Assam State Open School

Assam State Open School (ASOS), formerly named as Assam Open Board, was established in 2001 under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) to provide education to those who could not continue their formal schooling. ASOS was initiated with the objective of offering flexible and inclusive learning opportunities, especially for school dropouts, working individuals, and students from remote and underprivileged areas. Since its inception, ASOS has been responsible for academic planning, curriculum development, and conducting examinations for both Secondary (Class X) and Higher Secondary (Class XII) levels. With a growing number of learners each year, ASOS continues to expand its services to ensure quality education and equal opportunities for all.

Since its establishment in 2001 under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), ASOS has been committed to providing inclusive, flexible, and accessible educational opportunities to learners across Assam.

The functions of ASOS go beyond examinations. The school is entrusted with designing academic curricula, promoting open learning, and supporting students in completing their Secondary and Higher Secondary education. ASOS aims to empower learners who may not have had access to traditional schooling due to various challenges, enabling them to re-engage with education and progress toward brighter futures.
